Pedestrian Walkway

Description of project

Grimes Cranes unloaded, assembled, and placed the 226 foot long pedestrian bridge in Fort Walton, Florida.  Bridge consisted of 4 sections each weighing 55,000 pounds, each section is connected via splice plates the heaviest of which weighed over 1100 pounds, the bridge is bolted together wih over 1200 bolts each torqued to over 3000 lbs-ft.  Once assembled the bridge was loaded on a custom transporter and moved across Florida highway 98.  A 300 ton crane and a 200 ton crane were used to lift the bridge atop two concrete foundations appraxiametly 25' in the air.  The bridge was moved, lifted and welded in place in 4 hours, the road was reopened 4 hours ahead of schedule.
